LED light therapy is a revolutionary treatment that can be used to address skin concerns of all kinds. While the most common colours of LED light therapy are red and blue, there a quite a few more that also have great benefits.
At Fallon Aesthetics we offer red, blue, green and yellow LED light therapy and combinations of each of these colour spectrums.
We also have the ability to offer IR (barely visible near infrared light), this penetrates even deeper than red light and triggers wound healing, decreases inflammation, and can help with pain relief and muscle relaxation.
RED LED Light is used for treating the epidermis and has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles equating to healthier and younger looking skin. It can also improve overall facial texture and reduce scarring. Red LED light is thought to improve blood circulation and help with the penetration of active ingredients.
Red light penetrates between 1 and 6mm into the skin and is the most common colour users select.
BLUE LED light is for anti-acne primarily. It kills the bacteria that causes acne in the first place. It's also been shown to help with those who have psoriasis and reduce damage caused by the sun.
It can also calm sensitive, problematic skin. This is the favourite for those who have been struggling with Acne and have a hard time with ingredient-based solutions.
Blue light penetrates 1mm into the skin.
GREEN LED light has a calming effect and can help lighten age spots, sun damage and hyperpigmentation for a brighter, more even complexion. It can help with reducing dark spots as well as balancing out skin levels for those with oily skin.
Green light however, is most commonly known for reducing bags under eyes by frequent users.
Green lights penetrates 0.5 to 2mm into the skin.
YELLOW LED light is used to relieve rosacea, flushed skin and redness. It can also help reduce melanin production can be used for calming inflammation and reducing redness.
Studies have shown it's a great option for users specifically looking to reduce the redness caused from the sun. It also boosts lymphatic flow which helps remove toxins and increases skin hydration/circulation.
Yellow light penetrates 1 to 2 mm into the skin.
IR (barely visible near infrared light) penetrates even deeper than red light and triggers wound healing, decreases inflammation, and can help with pain relief and muscle relaxation.
As part of our LED light therapy, we have a scalp diode hood which is used to treat hair loss. It improves blood circulation and helps stimulate the hair follicles. This hood can also be used to treat your decolletage should you wish to treat this area as well.
Why use LED?
LED light treatments are quick, painless and have no downtime. They can also be combined with other aesthetic treatments to enhance results. Unlike other types of light therapy, LEDs do not contain ultraviolet rays, so are safe to use and side effects are rare. The low energy emitted also means there is little risk of damage to the eyes or skin, and it is suitable for use on all Fitzpatrick skin types.
Standard LED Therapy
LED light therapy can be used as a standalone treatment or used as an add on to a treatment you are already receiving with us. As part of the treatment process your skin is cleansed and exfoliated with a painless peel. We then use a toner to hydrate and plump your skin and apply a moisturiser, your skin is then exposed to the LED light therapy, light treatment can last anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes dependant on the package you choose.
Aftercare following treatment also varies dependant on the options you’ve selected. In addition to your treatment with us we do recommend a good home care routine which we are more than happy to advise you on.
Lumixa LED Therapy
Lumixa is a regenerative treatment which helps to restore the skins function at a cellular level to improve damage and ageing.
How Does it Work?
Simply put, it provides a workout to stimulate the power source in the skin cells (mitochondria) by hyper pulsating the cells and allowing a quenching period (like interval training), this then activates the cells to regenerate, repair and grow which results in an overall improvement of any damage or ageing (as we age our cells are not as efficient).
The LED light is the power source used to activate the Lumixa photoconverter gel under blue or red LED light. This allows the fluorophores in the gel to absorb the light energy which then generates a photoconversion into a spectrum of fluorescent wavelengths together.
What are the benefits?
